Social Media pays tribute to Senzo Meyiwa

According to police reports, Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead after armed assailants entered his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus, south of Johannesburg.

The South African footballer may have been trying to defend his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, a South African singer and celebrity, when he was shot – the BBC reported.

South African President Jacob Zuma said in a statement on Monday: “We mourn the death of this young footballer and team leader whose life has been taken away at the prime of his career. Words cannot express the nation’s shock at this loss.” With the presidents announcement, many local and international social media users took to the platform in order to pay tribute to the beloved football star.

According to EWN, No arrests have yet been made, but police have launched a massive manhunt for the three suspects who ended Meyiwa’s life. EWN also revealed that Police say they will do all they can to bring Meyiwa’s killers to book and have announced via Twitter that a reward of R150,000 will be given for any information leading to the arrest of the men.
