Living in the times of Social Media
In this day and age, the means people use to communicate with each other seem to be just as important to many of us as eating and drinking is. It seems that all we do, think or say has to first go through some sort of social platform before it is announced face to face to friends and family. Some, believe that these means of communication can have a negative effect on people’s social skills due to the fact that people rely more on social networking than on human interaction. Yes, more and more people today do prefer to send a message or upload a status than having to say it in person, especially if it is something people do not have the courage to say it. However just because there are some adverse aspects let’s not just assume that socialising through Social Media is a complete waste of time.
There are many positive aspects which one can benefit from. Looking from the users perspective, it allows them to reach friends and family from anywhere in the world much faster; it allows them to spread news quicker whether you just got a job, had a baby or want to sell your guitar by simply posting a picture, video and/or a status. This undoubtedly is one of the fastest ways to communicate in our time. Along with these means of communication, there are also different ways in which a person can do, for instance through the trending ones YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc. where they have different formats of communicating. Having Social Networks it allows people not only to contact others but also to express themselves. It is a place where people can share their talent with anyone around the globe as well as to inspire.
Whether or not you use Social Media for good purposes or not the truth is, all users are connected and addicted to it. Social Media in some essence functions like an ‘organ’ of the body where people cannot live without it. Some believe users are not getting enough in return and demanding a little more would not be a crime. I know we already have all that a user can ask for in terms of sharing information but do users get enough when comparing to what these Social Networks make out of their users? The answer is obviously a no, apart from YouTube who pays depending how many views one has and even than it does not compare to the money it makes.
The Network that believes in providing more than its services
If you are one of those people that believes users should get money for uploading content, since that is how names like Facebook and YouTube make their money, then the next name and the rest of this article will be of great interest to you.
Bebuzee is the name of the latest revolutionary Social Network and the first one to share money with its users. Founded in Cambridgeshire May 2012 and launched 1st of July 2014. Bebuzee has already reached over five million users in the space of four months. It is believed that their success might come down to the fact of sharing money with their users, an aspect not yet seen in any other Social Network. Joe Onyero, founder of Bebuzee tells that the idea of sharing revenue with users came when he had found out that other sites were making money through their users. He says “it is not fair that users upload their content onto a site, improve the value of that company, generate them profit and get nothing in return”. He believes users should get a portion of that money by the endless amount of hours spent on various sites. In one of his comments he tells of how “it is about time we reward our users by giving back half of the profit we make through them”.
Bebuzee is the first Social Network that shares its profits with their users. This is the prime characteristic encrypted in its DNA; to look after its users and reward them, to compensate in some way for the time they spend on the site. Here a simple view or like on a picture and the share of a status, among other interactions will offer the user automatically a stipulated amount. For each thousand impressions, the user will benefit from $0.50 and for each click on adverts on someone’s page, that user will receive $0.25. These sums will be paid either via PayPal or Bank transfer depending how they choose to receive payment , directly into user’s accounts at the end of each month once they have reached $100 plus. Should you not reach this amount by the end of the month this will be accumulate into next one. The user will also benefit from $1 upon signing up with Bebuzee.
It is likely that this method of sharing revenue with users will create an impact in the world of Social Media and even send warning signals to their competitors. It is also believed to attract a substantial amount of people to join Bebuzee and even perhaps to leave other Social Networks since impressions are what generates the largest amount of money and easy to obtain. Bebuzee has already created features which will enable the user not only to obtain more impressions but also to socialise more effectively. ‘Blogbuz’ and ‘Rate My Pic’ are the name of the latest features created to write and publish blogs and to rate other user’s pictures.
Bebuzee also expresses a great deal of concern regarding user’s data protection. Joe Onyero says he is “tired of hearing people complain about their personal information being shared and sold to third parties”. “This is a great deal to us and so it should be to other Social Networks, users are entitled to exercise their rights over their information and not having to worry”.
More than a simple social network, Bebuzee assumes to be a new platform of experiences where originality, innovation and ethics revolutionise the social universe. By creating online traffic through sharing information, talking to your friends and shopping, amongst many other things it will provide the user with the chance to make revenue without any effort. It is still early days to blow their trumpet but Bebuzee efforts are certainly being recognised by users around the world with over five million registers. Their ambitions are not to be over looked by other Social Media’s as they plan to correct any wrongs done by others.
