Residents in Ghana will be able to pay school fees via MTN’s Mobile Money Payments Service. The service, which was launched in Accra, will enable subscribers of the network to pay school fees for their wards, irrespective of their geographical locality, provided there is an active internet connection.
Eric Nsarkoh, Sales and Distribution Executives, stated that: “MTN has also provided schools that have opted for the service with a reliable platform to be able to monitor transactions. So far, roughly 30 senior high schools and three tertiary institutions have enrolled.”
Nsarkoh added that: “The company is running a ‘Back to School’ promotion to reward the students of parents who pay their fees through the platform. Additionally, subscribers of the MTN Mobile Money system are already able to pay their electricity, DSTV, GOtv bills and make transactions online. The MTN Mobile Money platform which recent celebrated its five anniversaries has over one million active subscribers across the length and breadth of the country.”
