As part of its effort to encourage and facilitate smartphone adoption, West African mobile operator MTN Nigeria has announced the introduction of the new Nokia Lumia 625 along with the promise to double data packages for users of the new hand device.
The new phone was launched in partnership with African urban music channel SoundCity and the company hopes it will continue to spur growth in the mobile phone sector.
Nokia’s sales director for the Middle East and Africa Patrick Dravet said that “the wider 4.7-inch screen means that consumers can enjoy more with their Nokia Lumia 625, including multi-media content.”
MTN Nigeria is offering consumers double their data plans when they purchase the new Nokia Lumia 625.
The mobile operator, along with competitors, has had to deal with intense regulation by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), particularly over advertising and promotion campaigns.
The NCC continues to monitor new promotions as part of an ongoing campaign to bolster overall service quality within the sector.
