Customers will be able to register any of their Samsung Wi-Fi enabled smart devices purchased after March 2010 for the free Wi-Fi service – giving them 1GB of free AlwaysOn Wi-Fi data every month for 12 months for every Samsung device that they own.

“This partnership with AlwaysOn enables us to provide our customers with a premier Wi-Fi access service that is designed to meet their mobile connectivity needs in what today is very much a digital age. Our customers are now able to gain additional value every month using the country-wide AlwaysOn network in conjunction with their 3G connections – by connecting via the AlwaysOn network,” says George Ferreira, Vice President and COO at Samsung Electronics Africa.

To use the service, customers need to locate the nearest AlwaysOn hotspot and register on the AlwaysOn network. Once in the hotspot the customer needs connect to the AlwaysOn network using their Samsung device. Customers should then select Samsung Registration from the Free Sites menu option and enter their details including the IMEI or serial number of the device (found by dialling *#06# or on the back of the device) to complete registration and begin using the AlwaysOn Wi-Fi hotspot.

Once the 1GB of data is depleted, customers can purchase additional data from the AlwaysOn Wi-Fi portal at standard rates.

“The Samsung free Wi-Fi service is another way Samsung is committed to providing its customers with superior services that fulfil their requirements – moving beyond merely device provision and towards strong value-added offerings. By combining the product innovation of the Samsung smart devices with the connectivity footprint of AlwaysOn, Samsung customers can benefit from being connected virtually around the clock without any additional expenses,” adds Ferreira.

To find the AlwaysOn hotspot location closest to them, Samsung customers can go to http://finder.alwayson.co.za.
