Music site for Africa iRoking announced a new partnership agreement with the social networking site 2go in an effort to increase available Nigerian music downloads across the 9 million users currently in the West African country.
According to the press statement from the companies, the “music site will bring the likes of Timaya, Flavour and Burna Boy to the phones of the millions who use the mobile networking site to chat, make friends and share the things they love.”
The mobi site iroking.2go.im was built by iRoking in an effort to feed the growing music demand in the country.
It also comes as Nigeria is witnessing a large boost in mobile penetration across the country, including rural areas, which the companies said made the current push an ideal one for the telecom sector.
“In keeping with 2go’s low-cost approach, the site also comes with optimizations to cater to feature phone users, with a light mobi site where pages load faster and smaller music file sizes,” it said.
With a large number of smartphones currently in the Nigeria market, the new downloading platform should give users more choices for tunes.
