Multi-national mobile advertising operation, Inmobi, has confirmed closure of its Africa operation and redirection of service to domestic markets via its UK-based office.
The company confirmed that InMobi offices in Kenya and South Africa are affected. Media reports claim that Inmobi presented staff with the option to relocate or face retrenchments.
In response to enquires about details pertaining to employees in Africa, the company stated that it is currently meeting with all employees affected by these changes to discuss redeployment.
A statement issued by the company said, “Like all successful and growing businesses, we routinely review our business to determine where we need to align investment based upon growth opportunities. Current global market conditions justify changes to the investment levels we make in certain countries in order to best structure the organisation to take advantage of the different opportunities around the world.”
According to the company it will continue to service all markets affected by these changes through centralised sales teams located in regional centres.
“InMobi has almost five years’ experience managing mobile advertising campaigns into emerged and emerging markets from remote locations and we have every confidence that there will be no noticeable change in our ability to service customers in any of these markets. InMobi is committed to servicing the global mobile advertising industry as it has always done. In addition to serving our customers in this region, we will also continue to contribute to the global mobile thought leadership through our widely-read InMobi Insights research reports,” it said.
