The eyes of the global mobile technology market narrowed in on San Jose California today as Thorsten Heins, Research In Motion (RIM) President and CEO, delivered his keynote address marking the beginning of the company’s highly anticipated Blackberry Jam Americas Conference.
Thornsten sounded RIM’s support for developer partners, emphasising the company’s stance in embracing change, what he called a ‘fighting spirit’ and commitment to innovation and service to subscribers.
In addition to a visual reminder to the world of its capacity and its desire to engage the world and facilitate a new era of mobile computing, RIM used the event to showcase the Blackberry 10 platform and its role in solidifying the company’s mobile consumer and social media strategy.
“There is no better to be right now because you embody what Blackberry is. The mobile landscape is preparing for another shift – a new era of mobile computing . Productivity, security, continuity are the ‘must haves’ today and the BlackBerry 10 is the platform to facilitate this. We have focused on simple user interface, seamless and easy flow and total integration across all apps,” said Heins. “What is driving power and innovation behind BlackBerry 10… easy… its you! People want to be productive on the go… BlackBerry 10 is the most exciting launch that I have led.”
The presentation underlined several intrinsic architectural features and tools that form part of the new platform, including BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Flow and BlackBerry Balance – all of which reflect the company’s strategy to provide full, centralised integrated control over apps.
