Good news for Vodacom users as the company hinted at offering unlimited data packages for mobile users to rival BlackBerry’s BIS (BlackBerry Internet Services) packages.

“We are definitely looking at those [data packages],” Nomsa Thusi, Vodacom Corporate Communications executive head, told News24 yesterday.
Since the packages are in the discussion stages, Thusi could not provide further details.
“Unfortunately I can not give too much detail on that, because we are still in our planning process at this point. Anything can change, but we are definitely looking at having other devices on a similar plan,” she said referring to BIS.
While BlackBerry has an established market with BIS, Nashua Mobile recently introduced a similar offer on Nokia handsets. For their service, users only pay R59 for unlimited internet usage in order to check emails, use social networking sites and browse the web.
Using BlackBerry’s services as a blueprint, Thusi also said they have learned a great deal from their competitors.
“At this point we can not confirm the exact offering, because we are still in the planning process. It will be good because we have had lots of key learning that we derived from the BlackBerry offering.”
