Warid, a mobile telecommunications operator and Air Uganda, Uganda’s national carrier will fly about 800 Ugandans to destinations of their choice within East Africa.
The announcement was made during the launch of “Give Wings to Your Dreams” promotion.
“We will give out free return air tickets over the next 8 weeks to give Ugandans who have never used air transport before a chance to fly to Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, Zanzibar or Kigali,” says Hugh Fraser, Air Uganda chief.
About 100 Warid users can win weekly tickets to fly to their destination of choice before 15 December 2011.
Shailendra Naidu, Warid Chief Commercial Officer says the partnership was created in order for both companies to do something unique and to promote the telecom operator as a mobile price war grips the country.
“Customers, who will load airtime worth sh 1 000 (less than US$1) or more, will automatically qualify for the draw,” says Naidu.
Warid currently has some 2.5 million users on its network.
