Sonic reaches the top for iPad apps

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing has managed to race their way into first place – not only on the race track, but also in this week’s top paid apps on the Apple App Store.

Beating out competition such as Battleship for iPad and Fruit Ninja, it has become the iPad’s biggest-selling app in its debut week.

It has also managed to overtake three different versions of the hugely-popular Angry Birds series, and Cut The Rope, which has just been announced to be available on the Android market place.

The Top Ten paid apps in the App Store are:
1. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
2. Battleship for iPad
3. Angry Birds HD
4. Angry Birds Rio HD
5. Angry Birds Seasons HD
6. Fruit Ninja HD
7. Cut the Rope HD
8. Trenches: Generals
9. Words With Friends HD
10. Epic War TD: iPad Edition

On the free market, Mr Giggle HD Lite is taking top honours, beating popular favourites like Angry Birds HD Free, Monkey Island Tales 1 HD and Rows 3D for iPad Lite for the number one slot. Mr Giggle HD has made a strong come-back, after dipping to eighth place last week.
