In an interview with our journalists on Friday, Vodacom Group Executive Head of Corporate Communications, Richard Boorman, said his mobile network worked hard to offset the impact of the charges even before the arrival of Telkom’s 8ta.
“We have been working very hard to find savings in other areas in order to offset the impact of lower MTRs (mobile termination rates) and also be able to offer greater value to our customers.
“In Vodacom’s case, lower MTRs result in a significant reduction in Vodacom’s income – they do not result in savings for Vodacom to pass on to customers.
“The new tariff announced last week should be seen in light of our ongoing steps to offer greater value to our customers,” said Boorman.
