Bill Glaser is succeeding Ulf Lilja, who is expected to return to Ericsson at the end of July 2010. He will report to Sony Ericsson President Bert Nordberg.
“Bill Glaser joins Sony Ericsson at an important time in our industry. The convergence of technologies across home and mobile devices, coupled with the increasing importance of understanding consumer insight, is something that he has already experienced across Sony’s diverse businesses”, said Nordberg.
Glaser spent over twenty years in Sony’s diverse electronics, game and entertainment businesses in the US, UK and Japan, holding senior positions at Sony in Japan and in the US. He was appointed Vice President and Head of the Sony Group Risk Office for Sony Corporation in 2006, being responsible for developing and introducing Sony’s global enterprise risk management programme.
“Over the past few months Sony Ericsson has announced one of its strongest product portfolios ever, which has created buzz in the industry. I look forward to applying the experience I have gained at Sony and contributing to Sony Ericsson’s next phase of growth”, commented Glaser.
Sony Ericsson is a 50:50 joint venture by Sony and Ericsson established in October 2001, with global corporate functions located in London and operations in all major markets. Sony Ericsson offers various consumer experiences through phones, accessories, content and applications.
