Facebook opens first support center in India

Facebook, the world’s largest social networking site, today announced the opening of a center in Hyderabad, India, in support of its global multilingual operations.

“Having multiple support centers in a variety of time zones provides Facebook users and advertisers around the world with round-the-clock, multilingual support”, the California-based company said in an e-mailed statement, cites Business Week.

The Hyderabad centre is the first of its kind to open in India, where Facebook has over 8 million users. Both Microsoft and Google have centers in Hyderabad, southern India.

Facebook has currently more than 400 million active users worldwide and is looking at adding a centre in Austin Texas, in addition to its California and Dublin, Ireland premises.

With Microsoft and Russia’s Digital Sky Technologies among its investors, Facebook was valued at no less than $11.5 billion in an index by SharesPost.
