Oracle has agreed to acquire Convergin, a provider of real-time service brokering solutions. This comes shortly after the giant software developer announced, earlier this week, the purchase of AmberPoint, a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Management provider.
The acquisition allows Oracle to accelerate the deployment of next-generation pre-paid and value-added services in the communications industry. The software giant will add Convergin’s J2EE-based Service Broker platform to Oracle’s Communications’ integrated product suite, including Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management, Oracle Communications Converged Application Server and Oracle Communications service fulfillment applications.
“As communications service providers transition from legacy telephony networks to next-generation networks, the combination of Oracle and Convergin will accelerate new service innovation while reducing network complexity and cost”, said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications.
The platform enables communications service providers (CSPs) to manage services for a wide range of networks and application platforms, including pre-paid charging.
Oracle provides complete, open, and integrated business software and hardware systems to its customers worldwide.
