Comztek retains sole Xbox distributorship in SA

Comztek has clinched the highly contended business to become the sole distributor of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in South Africa. Comztek was earlier this year contracted to restore the supply of the gaming console after the incumbent distributor closed shop.

Says Heinz Stephan, technology director at Comztek: “Comztek’s success over the last three months in restoring the Xbox supply and expanding the distribution network far exceeded all our expectations. We believe that this performance, along with our longstanding relationship and success with the Microsoft hardware products, is what secured us the deal.”

“From the onset, Comztek never thought of this as just a three month contract but rather sought to restore and expand the Xbox supplies for the long term”, continues Stephan.

Stephan says the addition of Xbox, being a household brand, to Comztek’s Consumer Electronics Business Unit brings great prestige to this business unit, especially at a time when the home entertainment market is expected to get a significant share of South Africa’s consumer spend.

Adds Stephan: “The new deal will ensure that Microsoft continues to benefit from Comztek’s commitment to expanding the Xbox distribution network to new reseller and retail partners through up-selling and cross selling with the other brands in our portfolio. The commitment and support from the Mustek group brings additional dynamism, enabling us to reach these new markets quickly and efficiently.”
