Lagos(IT News Africa) —NIGERIAN president, Umaru Yar’Adua’s has ordered the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to restart awarding the 2.3 GHz spectrum band licences because procedures were not followed.
This was said by presidential adviser Olusegun Adeniyi in a statement to the media.
“In furtherance of the Federal Government’s desire to assure all prospective investors of its commitment to the observance of due process and a level playing field, President Yar’Adua today directed that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) should initiate a fresh process
for the award of the 2.3 GHz spectrum band licences,” he said.
Adeniyi said as such, the awarding process conducted in May was now null and void.
The conclusion of the process culminated in a stalemate between the Ministry of Information and Communications and the NCC.
