VODACOM, South Africa’s leading cellular network, has announced the winner and runners-up of its “Fame” competition..
The campaign, which has run for the last six weeks, challenged anyone with a cellphone to upload their version of the iconic “Single Ladies” dance and in the process become internet famous.
“Following a grueling judging process based on creativity, compliance of the entry to the spirit of the competition and number of votes, the winner and runners-up have been decided,” said the company.
The overall winner is awarded R300 000 in cash and a Samsung cellphone, while the first runner-up walks away with a cash prize of R50 000 and a Samsung cellphone, and the second runner-up winning R20 000 in cash and a Samsung cellphone.
The overall winner was Charde Buchanan with “High School Single Ladies” from Rooihuiskraal in Centurion while Chris Njokwana was first runner-up with “Single Ladies Street Style” from Langa Township in Cape Town. The second runner up was Joanne Fisher and the “Crazy Fisher Family” from Glenmore in Durban.
