Independent telecom service provider, Switch Telecom, is making Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony more accessible to South Africans, by removing the barriers-to-entry of upfront handset costs.
The company is offering South African consumers and businesses a choice of one of four handsets, including desktop and cordless options, bundled with its VoIP telephony services.
“The LinkSys, Snom and Siemens handsets offer excellent value and advanced functionality to customers, and combined with our advanced VoIP and switch network, can dramatically reduce their call costs whilst increasing productivity,” says Switch MD Greg Massel.
According to Massel, customers must commit to a contract for at least three months, thereafter a notice period of one calendar month applies.
“There is a once-off R150 configuration and delivery fee to most cities and towns within South Africa, and then R79 per month compared to our standard R49 per month.
“The key difference is that for an additional R30 per month customers get a feature-rich phone that would otherwise cost more than a thousand Rand,” he says.
As a loyalty bonus after 24 months of continued service, customers can take ownership of the phone.
Massel says that the customer may terminate the contract before 24 months, providing that the phone is returned to Switch Telecom’s offices in its original packaging, is still fully functional and not damaged. A one month notice period applies.
“Switch Telecom doesn’t tie its clients into long-term contracts as we are confident in our ability to remain competitive and maintain service levels that ensure customer satisfaction,” he adds.
The handset bundle offering is available from Switch Telecom with immediate effect and all figures include VAT.
The phones on offer are:
