SA Home Affairs improves IT systems

Must Read

SOUTH Africa’s Department of Home Affairs said its turnaround programme, where it revamped its IT systems has been a success.
Director of Communications Siobhan McCarthy said this had increased the number of clients that they serve per day.
He added that there had been an increase in the number of asylum applications.
“A lot of work has been done to increase the capacity of the centres including improved IT systems, increased number of officials and improved filing systems. As a result of these changes the number of people processed daily has more than doubled,” McCarthy said.
“Approximately 700 applications are being processed daily from the Tshwane Interim Refugee Reception office.”
Meanwhile, this weekend, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was appointed as Home Affairs minister.
