Says Gerald Majola, CEO of the governing body: “Cricket South Africa is most grateful for the support that MTN has given to ODI cricket. They have made it possible for us to stage memorable events that have brought memorable results for South African cricket fans,”

“MTN is famous for its success at producing quality products, and this has certainly been the case with MTN ODI cricket. CSA would like to thank the public for supporting MTN cricket in such a massive way.”

MTN recently sponsored an ODI series between South Africa and arch rivals Australia. The company has also launched MTN Cricket for Change, a national initiative that help aspirant cricketers reach their potential.

Since October last year, MTN has been working with sports coaching company Active Education to provide school learners across the country with an opportunity to improve their cricket skills by working with experienced coaches.

Anthony Garstang, senior manager for sponsorship at MTN said: “The Cricket for Changes initiative has seen MTN providing cricket development in the country with the necessary funds to reach out to as many children as possible.”

“Additionally, the completion of the MTN Domestic Championship in January saw MTN raise approximately R170 000 to its Cricket for Changes initiative. Of that total, R60 000 was contributed during the Kenya and Bangladesh one-day international series at the start of the season. With the five one-day internationals against Australia to come, this amount is set to increase even higher.”
