Boost for Nigeria ICT Park

PLANS to build an information and communications technology park in Kano, Nigeria have received a major boost after the government pledged to release Naira 171 million.
Kano commissioner for environment, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, told media about the development.
“The state executive council has approved the release of N171.4 million for the takeoff of the ICT Park. By this development, Kano State is set to become the ICT nucleus of the country,” he said.

The Objectives of the Kano ICT Park are:

• Generate revenue for the state
• Create employment opportunities in the state
• Attract foreign investment in ICT sector
• Develop highly-skilled ICT manpower in the state

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is to establish a software testing centre, a software development centre, ICT training centre as well as a zonal office of NITDA in the Kano ICT park.
