Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance, Remi Babalola disclosed that the Federal Government saved over US$27 million from the pilot implementation of its electronic Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS).
Mr Babalola said that this saving justified the rollout of the IPPIS project to other government ministries, departments and agencies. He added that Government was dramatically stamping out waste and leakages in its lean finances and cutting down on red tape while encouraging Akwa Ibom State (AKS) to follow suit.
He said that transacting online with the government should be encouraged and made the norm as it will enable government to simplify licensing processes and reduce business costs significantly.
Babalola made the comments while presenting a lecture at the furst Akwa Ibom State Revenue Summit.
