Samsung.jpgSamsung has released its latest model notebook computers into the South African market, with features the manufacturer hopes will offer consumers an alternative to the very popular Apple brand.

Says Samsung Product Manager, Gavin Slevin: The focus is on quality and durability, with the obvious cost benefits of doing its own manufacture,” and adds, “And there are some brilliant new design concepts coming through – with some products in the pipeline that will give Apple a run.”

The new notebook range, called the X, R and P Series respectively, was launched at the end of last week. The models are aimed at the low cost ownership market, specifically small and medium enterprises.

At the launch event, Slevin described the new product range as follows: “There are the R-Series notebooks, in 15-inch, 16-inch and 17-inch versions that are aimed at the consumer market and will be available through retail. We also have the P-Series of professional notebooks which offer low total cost of ownership and address the market from SME to large corporate. The Masterpiece X-Series products are the top-end thin, light and high-powered,”

The range of notebooks was introduced into the U.S. market last year, intending to take market share in the light notebook sector away from competitors Apple and Sony.
