HOAX emails have returned to haunt Nigerian businesses once more with electronic transaction switching and payment processing company, Interswitch Limited becoming the latest victim.
The hoax emails request ATM cardholders to register their debit and credit cards because of a network refurbishing exercise purportedly being done by Interswitch.
The messages are circulated through the internet and mobile phones.
Interswitch has warned ATM card holders to watch out for such hoaxes and not to fall prey to them.
“The mails are from fraudsters so cardholders should beware they should fall prey to them. Interswitch has nothing to do with the mails,” the company said.
It said it remained committed to ensuring customers are not defrauded by such hoaxes.
