Africell deploys Nokia Siemens Solution

AFRICELL, the leading telecommunications services provider in Gambia and Sierra Leone, has deployed Nokia Siemens Networks’ state–of-the art 3GPP mobile soft switching solution in a move it believes will reduce operating expenses instantly, while accelerating the deployment of new services to mobile subscribers.

The company added that it had embarked on this move in order to meet subscriber’s growing demand and contribute to the networks’ efficiency.

“The development of our core network is crucial to Africell’s future success as our call traffic continues to increase. Implementing Nokia Siemens Networks 3GPP Release 4 architecture will improve our overall network capacity in order to optimize the network resources providing state of-the-art services to our customers.” Said Ziad Dalloul, chief executive officer for Lintel Group.

Afri-cell has a market share of 67 percent in Gambia and 45 percent in Sierra Leone while Nokia Siemens Networks is the market leader in mobile softswitching in GSM and WCDMA networks and the most experienced supplier in mobile softswitching worldwide, with more than 200 customers and over 150 live networks.
