SA to host Digital Broadcasting switchover

PREPARATIONS for the Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum, which South Africa will host early next month, are on schedule.

The event, which will take place in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, from February 3-5, is being organized by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).

“We are currently finalising the list of participants from key stakeholders in digital migration including SABC, Multichoice, ICASA, Sentech, TCRA, UNCTAD and Communication Ministries from across Africa,” CTO said in a statement.

It confirmed the participation of such speakers as Lara Kantor, chairperson of Digital Dzonga; Anton Lan, Business Development director of Altech; and Dimitri Martins, head of Regulatory Affairs at On Digital Media, among others.

Leading experts, policymakers and business leaders in the industry will attend the event.

Topics to be discussed include the migration from analogue to digital broadcasting and the development of digital transmission in South Africa and its effect on the continent–ITNewsAfrica.
