Motorola announced the successful completion of P25

MOTOROLA, a major player in the African mobile communications sector, has announced the successful completion of Project 25 (P25) interoperability demonstration scheme by five companies.

The firms involved in the project, whose testing was concluded last Friday, are Motorola, EF Johnson Technologies, Tait Radio Communications, Technisonic Industries Ltd and Tyco Electronics.

“This demonstration event is just another example of P25 manufacturers working together to advance interoperability.

“At Motorola we understand that true interoperability can be the key to saving lives, and we are dedicated to enhancing interoperability in the public safety environment,” Bob Schassler, corporate vice president, Motorola Government and Public Safety Products Organization, said in a statement.

P25 refers to a suite of standards for digital radio communications for use by federal, state/province and local public safety agencies in North America to enable them to communicate with other agencies and mutual aid response teams in emergencies.

“Last year was an incredible year of unprecedented commitment and cooperation between P25 manufacturers towards interoperable communications.

“It is only fitting that we start this year with a Project 25 CAI Trunked Interoperability Event. We look forward to continuing this momentum throughout 2009,” said Schassler.–ITNewsAfrica.
