THE COMMUNICATION Commission of Kenya (CCK) is considering allowing mobile phone subscribers to switch to another network and retain their numbers.
If the CCK proposed move gets the approval of cellphone providers, Kenya would become one the few African countries to offer number portability.
The latest development would mean that cellphone users would easily migrate from one mobile service to another and retain their current numbers.
The Kenya communication regulator indicated that it would consider the issue of number portability between March and September next year after consultations with service providers.
