A consultancy report by Summit Strategy projects that local mobile companies are expected to invest $6 billion into the market over the next three years — representing a huge opportunity for SMEs.

“The investments in the telecommunication industry are growing and our small and medium enterprises should seize this opportunity to also expand their businesses.” Mr Muriuki Mureithi, a consultant with Summit said.

Among the companies tipped to benefit from the entry of the new mobile operators are those charged with building and maintaining telecommunication infrastructure, those providing tests to telecommunication equipment and fibre optic cables.
