Technology is finally catching up with African television broadcasters and journalists.
With the entry of A24, a new 24 – hour internet television chanel dedicated to telling the African story from an African perspective, IT seems set to entrench itself in the continent’s media.
Now that set-up costs for internet television channels and online video on demand are lower than ever before, African news and shows are finally airing on the net. These developments seem to have set trends in the television landscape, offering opportunities for production and more relevant content.
Though made up of 53 nations and 10 per cent of the world’s population, Africa has been fed on broadcasts of news as screened by Al -Jazeera, CNN, BBC and occasionally Sky TV.
According to many media analysts, most of the continent’s content has been biased or shallow as it is often captured and packaged by poorly trained journalists.
Being an emerging market, Africa continues to attract a lot of attention from other parts of the world. Investors world over looking for investments options want to catch news and analysis to help in the decision making.
