THE 2008 ICT AFRICAN Achievers Awards has been dubbed the biggest ever with nominations of outstanding African ICT performers still pouring in from all over the continent. The growth of these awards has been phenomenal with this year’s penetration reaching the corners of Africa.
The African ICT Achievers Awards is the brain child of ForgeAhead, a specialist ICT research and consulting house in Africa. Its main aim is to contribute towards achieving the goal of “Making the African Century a Reality” through ICT.
Says Dorothy Haggard, Director at ForgeAhead: “This year’s celebrates our 10th African ICT Achievers Programme.”
“We are extremely excited that the awards have grown with such strong support and commitment from the industry and that the African ICT Achievers Programme is achieving its objectives of recognizing and rewarding achievement and in creating role models for others to aspire to.
“We have pulled out all the stops to make sure that the corporate social investment component of this year’s programme will cover a much larger community of ICT people in Africa,” says Mosebi.
“Our donations to needy communities and schools across the continent must have a positive impact and be able to bridge the gap between the privileged and not so privileged.
“We have already received almost 500 nominations mainly from African countries. The quality of nomination is unsurpassed and as the facilitators of the Programme, we are very proud to be associated with such worthy candidates.
“This tells us that what we are doing is much needed and that the impact of our programme is reaching the furthest corners in Africa,” concludes Haggard.
