Nokia fingers Asia as source of fake phones

logo_nokia_115_40_1.gifThe world’s leading phone manufacturer, Nokia has warned people over the influx of counterfeit cellphones and accessories.

According to Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation, Nokia’s East and Central Africa Communications Manager Dorothy Ooko said the phony gadgets are being sourced from Asia by unscrupulous dealers.

Speaking during the launch of Nokia E71 and E66 series Phones in the Kenyan market Ooko urged the Kenya Bureau of Standard and the Kenya Revenue Authority to tighten their grips on the contrabands in order to facilitate a competitive market.

Due to high growth of the mobile phone sector the country has witnessed a rise in fake phones which are sold to unsuspecting members of the public.

Most of the new phones are the latest Nokia series in the market launched earlier this year in South Africa.
