Mobile subscribers have grown immensely, representing more than 90% of all telephone lines since the introduction of competition in the mobile sector.
According to marketwatch.com the national operator Sonatel is partially privatized and highly profitable. The incumbent’s monopoly officially ended in 2004, and a SNO and third mobile operator are to be licensed.
