Network distribution alliance ushers in new product for market

SMC Networks South Africa, in conjunction with its distribution partner Drive Control Corporation (DCC), has confirmed the arrival of a new batch of next generation networking solutions to meet the ever increasing requirements in the market.

The arrival of 802.11n product, Ethernet & metro switches, for example, are designed to empower businesses and users and allow them to leverage off growth opportunities related directly and indirectly to these trends.


The companies announced their partnership in March of this year and have responded quickly to the need for reliable supply to existing and emerging market segments.

SMC Networks is an established global provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices. The company leverages manufacturing resources and strategic relationships to bring to market a growing range of affordable, leading-edge products, including 10 gigabit, gigabit and fast Ethernet switching.

The company specialises in solutions for the SMB/e and the home and small office (SoHo) environment. It also includes enterprise solutions such as its core layer 2/3/4 switches with up to 8 x 48 ports, 10/100/100 Megabits per seconds (Mbps) and 10 gigabit Ethernet technology.
“Drive Control is our newest partner and it concentrates on a myriad of storage product and network-focused products. This addresses requirements within the retail, SoHo and SME market, as well as meeting the needs of large enterprises,” he says.

DCC’s distribution portfolio includes a wide range of products, including hard drives, optical storage devices, monitors, LCDs, printers, tape drives, UPS’, consumables, digital cameras, storage hardware/software, networking, wireless and other peripherals.

This infrastructure and solution development continues to have an impact on key target markets including corporate networks, home user environments/ digital home networks, SoHo environments, digital lifestyle and large enterprises.

Part of the distribution strategy within the industry alliance has been the appointment of Johan Torien, SMC Networks product manager at DCC, to oversee support, marketing and sales of product sets to target markets.

“We are very happy to have Johan on board as our representative within Drive Control Corporation. He has a strong background in proactive sales and follow through on distribution strategies, in addition to his understanding of market dynamics and of what is required to meet the need for support,” says Luff.

Luff and Torien have outlined a number of short term objectives as part of the longer term vision for the partnership going forward.
 
“Initially we have organized to reinforce and strengthen our product portfolio at Drive Control and will also use the partnership as a foundation to provide logistic support and technical expertise,” adds Luff. “However as this relationship matures we envisage even greater value to our markets because they are in a position to capitalize off the most recently introduced product and always available technical support and expertise.”
