Accsys PeoplePlace, making the individual more marketable

A high number of job seekers and those wanting to explore different career choices battle with the basic preliminary steps towards securing employment. So claims Andiswa Mjali, Recruitment Division Manager at Accsys PeoplePlace, the company’s recruitment division.

It is primarily for this reason that Accsys, a national provider of HR and payroll management solutions, is to host a workshop in August based on the theme ‘planning your career’.

The company has been recognized within its field and the corporate market in general for its ongoing commitment to skills development, ICT literacy, workplace development and effective recruitment.

In addition to the growth of its PeoplePlace recruitment division and its entrenchment of the Accsys Internship Program, the company has also achieved acclaim in the form of a Technology Top 100 Award for Excellence in the Management of People.

The workshop, which runs on 21 August, is targeted at first time job seekers as well as unemployed graduates who need to brush up on a few basics says Mjali.

“Based on a number of interviews we have conducted as a recruitment division, it is quite clear that candidates are not entirely comfortable with the interview process, they are not familiar with the basic requirements, protocol and fundamentals that would make them more marketable at interview level. There is a definite need for more career guidance,” she says.

Part of this guidance involves self awareness on the part of the individual. There is a strong focus on this process adds Mjali.

“Individuals must be more in tune with their strengths and weaknesses. This information will help them match up subject choice with career prospects and ultimately make more accurate choices,” she says.

At the same time Accsys is confident of the value the workshop holds for those graduates who are currently unemployed or who would like to change career direction.

“The workshop is designed by the Accsys recruitment division and we believe it will go a long way to assisting people in making themselves a great deal more marketable or at least assisting them in terms of direction, current and emerging market trends and general information,” Mjali continues.

Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, says the company has a vested interest in contributing towards the enrichment of the country’s skills pool.

“We have a number of initiatives running, including the workshop process, which are practical methods of information transfer to individuals wanting to secure employment. Many job seekers have either not been exposed to the realities of the marketplace and related job requirements, or have had very little practical guidance in terms of how to manage critical processes like an interview. Our role as facilitator and host of this workshop is to empower people with the right knowledge of how to take advantage of certain situations and make the correct impression first time.”
