MTN and RIM Launch BlackBerry Solution in Ghana

The BlackBerry® solution brings together innovative smartphones, software and services to allow easy access to email (including attachment viewing), phone, calendar, web, multimedia and thousands of other business and lifestyle applications for people on the move.

At launch, MTN will offer the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8300 smartphone, the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 smartphone and the BlackBerry® 8800 smartphone.

BlackBerry smartphones available from MTN Ghana

The BlackBerry Curve 8300 is the smallest full-QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone and comes with a comprehensive suite of multimedia capabilities including a digital camera, MP3 player, video player and expandable memory slot. The BlackBerry Curve offers a powerful blend of communications, multimedia and web features to provide users with an exceptional mobile companion for both work and leisure.

The BlackBerry 8800 smartphone packs powerful productivity and communications features in a thin design with executive styling. The BlackBerry 8800 includes built-in GPS to support location-based applications like BlackBerry® Maps (included), as well as a MP3 player, video player and expandable memory slot. The BlackBerry Pearl 8100, with its innovative and easy-to-use SureType™ keyboard system, is the smallest and lightest BlackBerry handset. It measures a mere 107mm x 50mm x 14.5mm and weighs just 89 grams. In addition to supporting phone, email, messaging, organiser, web browser and other mobile applications, the BlackBerry Pearl also incorporates a digital camera, MP3 player, video player and an expandable memory slot.

Customers will be able to utilize both BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Internet Service through the MTN network. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with IBM Lotus® Domino®,Microsoft® Exchange and Novell® GroupWise® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data. For individuals and smaller businesses, BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to access up to ten supported corporate and personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts) from a single device.
