Accsys, a national provider of HR and payroll management solutions, has thrown its weight behind corporate efforts to support Business Against Crime. The company recently provided conference facilities for a six-day leadership development course aimed at police station managers of the South African Police Services (SAPS).The Leadership Development Program was developed by Sims Khula Training (Pty) Ltd. and introduced to meet a requirement for improved levels of organization and leadership development as expressed by SAPS in conjunction with Business Against Crime.
Barbara Degenaar, training facilitator at Sims Khula Training, directed the course and was very pleased with the overall response by the SAPS managers.
“The Program is a relatively intense itinerary of scheduled activities, exercises and discussions, the objective of which is to explore the various facets of leadership development and their real life application,” says Degenaar. “I believe that as a group, we certainly made some genuine progress in this regard.”
Charl Whitehead, a captain at the Linden Police Station, was one of the attendees of the course and was impressed with its content, presentation and general outcomes.
“There was certainly value to be derived for teams or groups as well as individuals. It will definitely contribute towards improved levels of operational efficiency, management in the workplace and follow through on key processes and procedures,” says Whitehead.
Accsys has been instrumental in the co-sponsorship by providing the training facilities and catering for the program.
The company is founded upon- and continues to advocate – effective people management through the combination of technology, skills development and strategic application of HR and payroll resources.
It has established a firm reputation in the market for its commitment to skills development within HR and payroll administration. Its introduction of the first available online payroll qualification together with its ongoing eLearning initiative, internship program and recruitment drive, has elevated the company’s profile.
In the first quarter of 2008 Accsys received the Technology Top 100 Award for Excellence in the Management of People.
“Aside from our general support for this very worthwhile initiative, one that is in the interests of all members of the public, we also endorse any program that is based on individual and group empowerment and development,” says Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys. “The feedback from the delegates was extremely positive and their commitment to taking what they have learnt back into their workplaces is exciting. Accsys is proud to be playing a small part in supporting this program which drives strong leadership principles such as delegation, problem solving, time management and strategic resource allocation.”
“The rollout of this training is dependent on sponsorship by businesses such as Accsys who so willingly made their facilities available to SAPS” says Yvonne Pennington from Business Against Crime which coordinates the program.
