Huge Group attracts former Vox Telecom director.

Must Read

Huge Group has announced that Rajen Pillay, current operations director of Orion Telecom, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE listed Vox Telecom, will be joining their board of directors. Pillay has 18 years’ corporate telecommunications experience.

“We are building our intellectual property, a commodity that is generally in short supply in South Africa,” says Anton Potgieter, chief executive of Huge Group. “We have been looking for the last couple of months to build the team – a mutual contact from the industry put the two parties together and the relationship was built from there.”

Pillay has confirmed that he is looking for a new challenge, hence the move to Huge Group. “I have never been involved in consumer focused businesses, only corporate,” he says. “The decision was based on the future prospects of the Huge Group.”

Pillay started off his career in the PABX division of Siltek, moving on to become technical manager. He joined Orion as a Product Development Manager, then became National Service Manager, and became Operations Director in the past year.

Pillay’s move is also potentially a pre-emptive move by Huge to bolster the team for iTalk, should the transaction go ahead. “iTalk has huge potential,” says Pillay. “The business is poised for significant growth and this is just the challenge I need in my career right now,” he concludes.
