After a brief appearance in the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Juan Duval-Uys, who is alleged to be behind the sex blogs slandering several high-profile South African men, will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
He is suspected of being the author of the kiss-and-tell blog in which he assumed the role of a slanderous male prostitute named Skye, and is also believed to be the alleged mastermind behind a controversial anti-crime website using the pseudonym Neil Watson.
On the SA Male Prostitute blog, Skye alleged he had had sex with at least 50 prominent South Africans – 16 are named – including a Cape Town politician, a former Springbok rugby player, a church minister and a movie and television critic.
Duval-Uys, who was considered one of the most wanted men in cyberspace, was arrested at his mother’s house in Kroonstad at the weekend.
Kroonstad Magistrate’s court prosecutor Alan Simpson confirmed Duval-Uys appeared in court in connection with a transfer to Cape Town.
Police spokesman Elliot Sinyangana said Duval-Uys had been arrested on a warrant issued on a charge relating to fraud registered at Table Bay Harbour police station.
Independent Democrats caucus leader Simon Grindrod last month laid a charge against an anonymous blogger who had claimed he had had sex with him.
Sinyangana said detectives would transport Duval-Uys to Cape Town.
