On Monday 6 October 2017 in a glitzy event in Cape Town, South Africa, Chinese technology company, Huawei unveiled their latest flagship device to the South African public, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Despite having launched globally in Germany on the 16th of October 2017, this was the first time that South Africans could have an up-close look at the device which according to the company is “built for AI.”
Huawei also took the opportunity to showcase the classy Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design and both the MateBook X and MateBook E.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro will go for a recommended retail price of R17 999 or R699 per month. The phone is available for pre-order as of now and will only be available through the various service providers and the Huawei stores.
The Mate 10 Porsche Design is marketed as a designer high-end device so naturally, it has a high-end price. The phone will go for a recommended retail price of R26 999 or R899 per month. Huawei did confirm that there will be added extra’s in the box but said they were still negotiating with service providers. Huawei also highlighted that they will only be shipping 999 Mate 10 Porsche Design into South Africa. The device will only be available from MTN and Telkom.
The pricing for the MateBook’s was also released. The MateBook X will go for a recommended retail price of R23 999 and the MateBook E will go for a recommended retail price of R19 999.
