BlackBerry BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) subscribers have experienced service disruptions with some blaming the outage on BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) Ltd.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Problems appeared to be limited to accessing the Internet, instant messaging and roaming in Europe, though outages were reported Monday as far as the Middle East and Africa.
RIM, based in Waterloo, Ontario, said in a statement: “We are working to resolve an issue currently impacting some BlackBerry subscribers in the EMEA region. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”
In a note of its own on Twitter, RIM’s customer-service representatives said the company was investigating problems with some European and Mideast customer accounts and apologized for the interruption.
BlackBerry subscribers with Vodafone Group PLC also were experiencing trouble. Some Vodafone users said their service was operating as normal as of late afternoon European time.
