According to Capital FM Kenya, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has revealed that more than 2 million households have moved to a digital broadcasting platform across the country since the migration process kicked off.
In the report, CA Director General Francis Wangusi revealed that there are currently 3.5 million households with television sets in the country. Wangusi says the number of Kenyans buying STBs to access digital broadcasting continues will continue to increase due to rising awareness both in the urban and rural areas.
According to the report, Wangusi stated that: “What I am hearing today from most of the vendors and digital platform providers is that approximately 5,000 Set Top Boxes are being sold here in Nairobi every day.”
Wangusi also revealed that at the moment the CA is working on ensuring that the country not only beats the June global digital migration deadline, but addresses all challenges surrounding the process.
According to Wangusi, the regulator has been holding meetings with signal distributors to try and provide gap fillers in order to have a uniform signal across the country.
