Oscar Pistorius has received a five year sentence for culpable homicide. The judgement came after a seven-month trial in the North Gauteng High Court for the death of Reeva Steenkamp at his luxury Pretoria home in February 2013.
According to EWN, The athlete had a brief word with his uncle Arnold before being led straight to the cells.
Pistorius’ sentencing has sparked a massive buzz on social media across the continent.
While some agree with the blade runner’s sentencing, others do not.

My take: Sentence fits the conviction. Question is: does conviction fit the crime? #OscarPistorius

#OscarPistorius has been sentenced to a MAXIMUM of 5 years. Eligible for parole after 10 months, which he will get. Life is cheap in SA.

My 5c #OscarPistorius is that I’m in support of the judge, she made an educated decision, not 1 based on what the public would have to say

@BBCAndrewH WHAT! Is that how SA operates? I’m sure if it’s in Nigeria, he will do that 5 year complete. #OscarPistorius
