Last week Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 4 at a rather prestigious event held in Cape Town, South Africa. At the event, IT News Africa had the opportunity to get some hands-on time with the Galaxy Note 4.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 hosts a lot of power under the hood of its rather large and impressive 5.7-inch, 1440p Super AMOLED screen. The device features Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat), which is powered by a 2.7GHz Quad-core processor. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 packs in around 3GB RAM as well. When it comes to storage, the device can host up to 128GB of storage space when equipped with a MicroSD Card. Furthermore the Galaxy Note 4 features a Andreno 420 GPU, which will run just about any game or app on the Android App store with ease.
Looking at the build quality of the device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is sleek and sexy in design. It weighs in at 176 grams, which is fairy light especially for its size. One thing I personally liked about the device is the fact that it comes with a premium metal frame as well as a soft textured back cover. A lot of devices today seem to incorporated a glass back cover, which tends to shatter and splinter if dropped. The soft textured back cover provides not only visual appeal, but also protects the device to an extent. The Galaxy Note 4 also comes standard with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which will essentially protect your screen from minor drops.
Smartphone photography is becoming a big deal these days. While keen photographers tend to opt for a DSLR camera, others tend to prefer using a smart device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 excels in the smartphone photography department with its 16MP rear facing camera as well as its 3.7MP front facing camera. While most smart devices tend to feature the same shooting modes, Samsung has gone out of its way to create a wide angle selfie mode. According to Samsung, this mode allows users to capture a much wider shot when it comes to taking a selfie.
The S Pen has also returned with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. According to Samsung, the S Pen offers an improved digital handwriting experience through enhanced pressure sensitivity. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a rather impressive device. Not only does it feature great build quality, but it also comes packed with loads of features as well as some impressive hardware specs.
