
Reports have been flooding in that Apple has now officially pulled its iOS 8.0.1 firmware update. Among dropped calls users have been plagued by a glitch that ultimately causes the Touch ID to fail on new devices.
According to the Daily Mail, Users began reporting overnight that the upgrade to iOS 8.0.1 robbed them of signal, data service and the Touch ID capability.
Apple has pulled the update; however, users are also reporting that the latest devices from Apple may start to bend or warp if the temperature of the device raises above normal conditions.
According to Mashable as well as Apple’s release notes, the update included a fix for a HealthKit bug, which unexpectedly delayed the launch of HealthKit-compatible apps and a number of other “bug fixes.”
For iPad users, the software update did not seem to negatively affect devices; however, users were cautioned not to update their device’s. Apple is said to be working on a fix..
According to Mashable, there is a way to downgrade your phone back to iOS 8, but it involves connecting your phone to a computer.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Download the firmware for iOS 8. You can find it in a few places, including over at iDownloadBlog. It’s a big download, so it could take some time, depending on your connection.
2. Turn off “Find My iPhone” on your phone if you’re using the feature. You can do this under Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone.
3. Plug in your device to you computer.
4. Launch iTunes.
5. Click on the iPhone tab and back up your phone to iTunes.
6. Hold down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (PC) and click on the “Check for Updates” button.
7. Choose the file you downloaded back in Step 1.
8. Wait as the iOS 8 firmware is installed on your device.
9. Enjoy being able to use mobile Internet and making phone calls again.
The above steps were revealed by Mashable and users should be cautious when trying to rollback the software on their device’s as apps and personal data may be wiped from the device. Apple has stated that it is working on an official fix.
