These issues are said to only affect Safaricom’s business customers in the country, that rely on fibre or WiMax for their connectivity needs.

Bob Collymore, CEO Safaricom Limited explained that the company was working towards restoring the data services to its affected business customers within the shortest time frame.

He added that the service distortions did not affect its mobile data users on 3G handsets and modems.

Recently Safaricom discontinued the sale of unlimited data bundle products to its subscribers saying that the move was based on the fact that some subscribers were misusing the service and that this was affecting other users who were experiencing slower network connections.

Safaricom Ltd is the leading mobile network operator in the Kenyan market that is owned 40% by Vodafone group Plc of the United Kingdom.

Since its entry to the Kenyan market, Safaricom has had a strong foothold in the Kenyan telecommunications market with its products and services and it is in the same frontline with rivals such as Bharti Airtel, Orange Kenya and Essar mobile.
