LG Electronics has introduced a new addition to the LG Optimus Series of smartphones running Android 2.3 – the LG Optimus Pro (LG-C660).

The new Gingerbread Android mobile operating system offers enhanced multimedia support, enhanced power management and better gaming support.

“Consumers today want choice and options. They want phones with a mix of features and technology for their individual needs,” says Michael Bang, General Marketing Manager for LG Electronics South Africa.

“This is precisely what we’ve done with Optimus Pro, a completely new device that enhances LG’s reputation as a company with an Android smartphone suitable for everyone.”

The LG Optimus Pro is the phone for simple social networking featuring both QWERTY keyboard and touch screen. The Optimus Pro is the first LG Optimus smartphone with a portrait bar QWERTY keyboard that offers the best of both a physical keyboard and touch display.

The 2.8-inch display provides quick navigation while the QWERTY keyboard is ergonomically designed for fast and accurate typing. Dedicated hotkeys for email and scheduler enable instant access for enhanced speed and convenience.

The Optimus Pro also boasts the largest 1500mAh battery in its class and an 800 MHz CPU, ensuring longer, better performance.

The Optimus Pro will be available in South Africa in October 2011, and retail for about R1 799.
