
The study was compiled between March and April this year, giving a complete outlook on Twitter usage in South Africa, the 7th most visited site in the country according to Fuseware’s research.
The report revealed SA’s Twitter users average 346 tweets and the average followers number was 115. Also, 30% to 40% of all tweets were sent using mobile devices.
Among the favorite topics tweeted by South Africans, sport and the imminent World Cup are top on the agenda, followed by music, love and life issues and Africa in general. The report also claims the most tweeted companies in the country were Vodacom, Microsoft and Eskom.
Most of South Africa’s Twitter users are students, designers, writers and engineers, with a third of all tweets originating from Cape Town users, followed by Johannesburg and East London.
