“The offering, Tracks4Africa Off-Road Guide, combines the high quality map data and content from NAVTEQ with the unique outdoor content from Tracks4Africa”, said Alastair Protheroe, director Middle East and Africa map and content products from NAVTEQ.

Tracks4Africa Off-Road Guide will be available in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique in the first quarter of 2010.

The new product incorporates a premium off-road map and an outdoor guide based on collective travel experiences of Tracks4Africa’s hundreds of members. The digital map indicates more than 90.000 km of roads and over 40.000 points of interests from the 6 African countries involved in the project.

According to Johann Groenewald, managing director from Tracks4Africa, the map addresses relevant information for self drive tourists in Africa and its features include time calculations in the same way a GPS does, the introduction of back roads and off roads already tested by travelers, trip planning, routing according to scenic tracks, difficulty of trails and natural landmarks and viewpoint information.
